Residential Service

The Society of Boys’ Centres provides residential service to boys aged between 8 to 18.  In order to prepare them for reunion to families, or further training. Education, counseling service and life skills training are provided in these centres.  With the provision of an appropriate living environment, care and protection, service users are helped in their emotional and psychological development, as well as the fostering of a healthy character.  Residential service is provided through ‘house-system’ with small group living led by residential social workers. This helps the service users to develop their self care, interpersonal relationship and problem solving skills.

Services provided by our Centres include personal counseling, developmental groups and mass programs.  Service users are helped to develop self-confidence in facing their later life.

School for Social Development

The Society runs 3 Schools for Social Development, namely, Shing Tak Centre School, Chak Yan Centre School and Hui Chung Sing Memorial School. The Schools are designed for students with adjustment problems. Services by social workers, teachers with special education training and educational psychologist are provided in these schools. The learning environment is small size class with 12 students, so that attention and individual caring can be provided.

The curriculum adopted in Schools for Social Development includes general subjects as well as practical subjects, with the personal and socialization course being compulsory. Personal needs and individual’s interests are taken into account in the curriculum design, with the hope that our service users will reintegrate into mainstream schools soon.
